ANDI FAQ:

I would like to try this diet, but the idea of starting it, particularly with my child and my family, overwhelms me.

You are in luck. Several terrific resources are at your disposal.

To find a supportive doctor, look at our Physician List, or go to Autism Research Institute and scroll down to the DAN! Practitioner List. These are docs who attended at least one DAN! conference, but some are more knowledgeable than others -- you may want to ask a few questions before making an appointment. This list has been updated recently.

Please see our catalog for books, booklets, and audiotapes. For over 150 terrific recipes and tons of great information on subjects like picky eaters, what to tell teachers and grandparents, etc., we highly recommend Lisa Lewis's book, Special Diets for Special Kids. We also publish a quarterly newsletter, the ANDI News, with research updates, recipes, and articles by parents and physicians.

If you would like to read about Karyn's autism research, and more details about her son's recovery and implementing the diet, her book is now available: Unraveling the Mystery of Autism and PDD: A Mother's Story of Research and Recovery. You can order it from us (signed) at ANDI, or at any of the online booksellers such as www.amazon.com, or check your local bookstore.
